Top 10 Food Delivery Orders

It was always my intention to share this list with you all, as ordering in was ironically my favorite thing to do in the City. Every other Friday (and sometimes the Fridays in between), I would walk home from work and stop by the liquor store right across from my apartment, get myself a bottle of wine, go home and order takeout. I would put on my comfiest PJ’s, set up food trays on my bed, light some candles, turn on the Christmas lights around my room, pour a glass of wine, and then search for the perfect Netflix show. By the time I accomplished ALL of this lol, my doorbell would ring and my food would arrive. In fact, thinking of it right now is giving me an unexpected release of dopamine. Anyways, now that the restaurants are shutting down again, and they need your help now more than ever, I thought now would be a good time to share my top to delivery app orders :)

Hope you all enjoy reading my Seamless order history, and discovering my weakness for high carb, high calorie, and high cost eating habits! Bon apétit!

Joe’s Pizza

Joe’s Pizza

First up, we have the famous, delectable, incomparable, New York City staple— Joe’s Pizza! Can I just say, Pizza is my number one favorite food ever. You can get it all cheesy and greasy, or light and fresh, or even as a dessert! And let me tell you, this pizza blew all other pizza’s I have ever consumed in my life, out. of. the. water. Some people argue with me on this, and yes I’ve tried Prince Street Pizza and Rubirosa and even the iconic NYC $1 street slices, but Joe’s BY FAR is the absolute best! Every single visitor of mine I made sure they had a slice of Joe’s and every single one still raves about it to this day. Joe’s haunts their dreams as much as my own… Also their late working hours, and quick and efficient delivery is ideal for all the late night bite cravings!

My order: Plain Cheese Pie with 1 Topping (Pepperoni)

Zucker’s Bagels and Smoked Fish

Zucker’s Bagels and Smoked Fish

Ordering from Zucker’s got to be a real problem… Every Sunday morning like clockwork I lost all sense of self control and had “The Zucker’s Traditional, no onions, large iced latte with Splenda” (and occasionally if I was feeling REALLY hungry, a classic Everything Bagel with plain cream cheese) delivered to my doorstep before I even rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Seamless didn’t make it any better with their “Express Reorder” button that made the whole process take all of less than a minute. I’ll admit, I started on Zucker’s after Tompkins Square Bagels stopped delivering all the way to Murray Hill, so it’s hard for me to fairly determine which one is better than the other. However, my last Tompkins order forgot to take off the onions so that was less than perfect… So for accuracy and consistency purposes, I’ll give this one to Zucker’s. They’ve always been there for me.

My order: The Zucker’s Traditional Bagel Sandwich, no onions, Large Iced Latte with Sweetener. And/or the ocassional classic Everything Bagel with plain cream cheese.

Naya Middle Eastern Counter & Grill

Naya Middle Eastern Counter & Grill

After discovering this place, it was difficult for me to veer into any other cuisines for a while. The Naya Bowl was my go to and so freaking delicious and filling. My favorite part was all of the FREE add ons! normally places will give you the tomatoes or lettuce for free, but as you can see from my very extensive order below, I literally got the works. I ordered EVERY side I could lol, and no 25 cent or 50 cent additional charges. Some weekends when I really wanted to treat myself and have leftovers to last me through the weekend I’d add on a Hummus special or a Baklava dessert. Ugh just is good.

My order: Naya Bowl with Freeka Organic, Spicy Beef Meatballs, Feta Cheese, Romaine Lettuce, Green and Red Cabbage, Cucumbers, Yoghurt Cucumber, Diced Tomato, Mediterranean Olives, Hummus, Fresh Jalapeño, Spicy Red, Garlic Whip, Spicy Jalapeño Green, and Baba Ghannouj; the occasional Hummus appetizer, or Baklava.

Whitman’s NYC

Whitman’s NYC

Burger’s are my second favorite food of all time, so you better believe I ordered around;) I tried Blake Lively’s favorite burger joint Bareburger a few times, I tried one of the giant Burgers from Jackson Hole, and I even tried The Smith Burger. But once I finally had my first Whitman’s burger, I never ordered from another restaurant. Their burgers are so phenomenal I wanted to taste every one. I was making my way down the menu when COVID-19 hit and unfortunately didn’t get to them all. But of the ones I tried, I was absolutely obsessssssed. However, my absolute FAVORITE thing about Whitman’s is a little unconventional…. but it is what made me such a loyal freaking customer. For my very first order I added in the comments section “extra sauce please!” thinking it was worth a shot but no way were they going to give it to me. Normally places will give you the option to buy an extra side of sauce, but this wasn’t an option. And often the restaurants will just straight up ignore your comments section lol. But Whitman’s, oh sweet, precious, wholesome Whitman’s… They literally gave me 2 whole sides of extra Special Sauce, NO CHARGE! I will forever praise them and send all good karma in their direction. They deserve it.

My order: I tried a new burger every time. None ever failed me. I have tried the Bluicy (a take on their popular Juicy Lucy but with Blue Cheese stuffing), Whitman’s Classic, The Hound (piled with potato crisps), and Turkey Burger. Unfortunately there are still so many left on the menu I wanted to try, but alas.. Pandemic… But always with a side order of Sweet Potato Fries and EXTRA SAUCE!

Poké Time

Poké Time

I don’t remember where or when I tried my first Poké bowl, but I know Poké Time is the one that made me a Poké Addict and no other restaurant’s Poké has ever compared. (Well Sons of Thunder was great, but they’re a place that likes to charge for all the additional add ons). Poké Time is another place that I literally pile on the fixins’. One bowl of this also left my stomach full and my mouth on fire (my favorite). Usually I would add a side of Miso Soup for next day because it was only $1.50. If I ever felt like splurging I’d even add on a sushi roll bc how could I say no to sushi! Just give me all the seafood please!

My order: Make Your Own Poké with half Spicy Tuna half Spicy Salmon, add Edamame, Cucumber, Diced Mango, Jalapeño, Wasabi, Seaweed Salad, Sesame Seeds, Tempura Flakes, Wonton Crisps, and side of Hot Miso Soup. Also ordered their sushi on a couple of occasions…

Sarge’s

Sarge’s

This place literally has everything, and I mean everything. It also happened to be one of the first places my dad and I tried when apartment searching for my big move to the city! He found them online, as they are famous for their cold cuts and cheese. And they have every cold cut. and every cheese. you could imagine. So that was good, but I gravitated more towards the soups and sandwiches for the nights I needed some good, warm comfort food. As you can see from the image above, they piiiiiiile on the meat, and it is good meat too, so no complaints. It’s also the first place I ever tried Matzah Ball soup which made me feel all snuggly and warm and happy. I wish I had more time to try a few other things of their 4 mile long menu, but alas, I will just continue to dream of their warm soup and sandwich on those lonely, chilly nights.

My order: Half Soup and Sandwich with Rye Bread Hot Pastrami Sandwich and
Chicken Consomme Soup with Matzah Ball. Or one bowl of Matzah Ball soup.

Akura Sushi

Akura Sushi

The first time I ordered sushi off a food delivery service, I’ll admit, I was a little sketched out. I can’t be SURE if it was Akura I ordered from, but after I didn’t get food poisoning, I continued to order massive amounts of sushi for the next 2 years. Akura was my go to and so wonderfully cheap it allowed me to try so many things! I was never disappointed, (and never poisoned lol).

My order: Miso Soup, Gyoza as appetizers and literally whatever 3 rolls I wanted to try. They are about $5-6 a piece so it was fairly cheap to try several at a time! That’s how you’re supposed to do sushi anyways, amiright?

The Smith

The Smith

Some native New Yorkers would fight me on this but hear me out… The Smith is basically an upscale version of a Chile’s or a Cheesecake Factory. They have literally everything on the menu, and it’s all good! Maybe not the best of the BEST, but that’s not really what you’re looking for at The Cheesecake Factory either, you know? At The Smith you can find anything from comfort food, to refreshing salads, to hearty burgers and steaks, to rich and creamy pastas. They have sandwiches, great cocktails, and extensive specialty drinks. They have rich desserts, craveable appetizers, and a scrumptious raw bar. However their most famous dish (and rightfully so), is their Skillet Baked Mac and Cheese. Honestly, I can’t recommend you take my word for it just because I have never been impressed about anything else other than Kraft, or Velveeta Shells and Cheese. But you SHOULD take the word of the million other New Yorkers who have indulged and come out impressed by this cheesey creation.

My order: another one where I always wanted to try something different. However this place was my go to when I was craving dessert. I like the Molten Chocolate Cake and the Sundae. They’re awesome about delivery of these products too as the deliver it all in separate containers for you to combine on your own and maintain that freshness.

Six Happiness East

Six Happiness East

I don’t have a huge craving for Chinese as it seems people in the movies do. Everyone always wants Chinese takeout in the Rom Coms??… Anyway, when I did find myself craving some tanginess, sweet and sour, and salty soy sauce goodness, Six Happiness was my go to. I tried a couple dishes here and loved to try new appetizers each time, but I most consistently ordered the Chicken and Broccoli which was fantastic.

My order: Chicken with Broccoli, Shrimp Roll, and Fried Wontons

Shake Shack

Shake Shack

How could I not include a fast food option on this takeout list! Especially since Shake Shack is a NYC staple and so. freaking. YUMMMYYYY!! Now don’t get me wrong, if ever I am asked to choose between Shake Shack and In-N-Out, it will be In-N-Out hands down. Every time. But I can appreciate both. And Shake Shack is something to be freaking appreciated. I always got the Shack Stack which I wanted to try because I had recently uncovered a love for mushrooms. But with my first bite into a perfect ratio of beef, tomato, cheese, lettuce, Shack Sauce, and Mushroom, I was ecstatically surprised by the additional river of cheese that oozed from the inside of the Mushroom. This discovery brought tears to my eyes… Okay not really, but I freaking love cheese, like, LOVE it. And when it sneaks up on me like that unexpectedly, it brings me uncontrollable joy. Anyways, with the addition of the mushroom and flood of cheese, I find myself a lot fuller then with just the regular burger. But I always leave enough room for my cheese fries. What is cool about the delivery is that they keep the cheese separate which means you’re probably getting more because they aren’t just coating the top fries. They’re filling a little individual container that allows you to dip your fries for an even distribution of cheese among the fries. In fact, I usually have enough cheese leftover to finish off my cheeseburger with! (I freaking love cheese guys).

My order: The Shack Stack Burger (comes with beef and cheese stuffed portobello mushroom— oh my god this discovery changed me), Cheese Fries, and Chocolate Shake if I felt a little sweet tooth coming on.
